Gangelhoff Center celebrated its 15th year by hosting the 2008 NCAA Division II Volleyball Championships, with the Golden Bears winning the title on their home floor in front of a standing room only crowd full of current students, faculty/staff, alumni, friends and family. Gangelhoff Center had the rare chance to host a second-consecutive NCAA Championship the following year, 2009, with Concordia keeping the title at home once again - their third of an NCAA Volleyball (all divisions) seven straight championships (2007-14).

The $5 million, 45,000 square foot arena features four full basketball courts (two hardwood, two clay), a 200 meter indoor track, racquetball courts, a strength & conditioning room, batting cages and the ability to be used for tennis and indoor soccer.

Additionally, many of Concordia's athletics offices and kinesiology professor offices are located on the arena's second floor, along with public restrooms, concession stand, a classroom and large common area (Hall of Fame room) that overlooks the floor.

On the first floor, the large lobby contains the ticket booth, while four main locker rooms, a full athletic training room and two officials locker rooms all reside along with an additional office space.

Gangelhoff Center's expandable capacity has been tested on numerous occasions, the first being in March of 2001 when Concordia hosted the Slam Dunk/Three-Point competition that was televised nationally by ESPN with the best dunkers and three-point shooters in college basketball participating. The Gangelhoff Center has served as the host venue for several NCAA and NSIC tournaments.

In addition to the college volleyball and basketball played here, the Gangelhoff Center has hosted high school basketball regular season and sectional games, as well as numerous Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) tournament games in basketball and badmitton, as well as concerts and school graduation ceremonies.

Several of Concordia's athletic teams practice here when the weather is inclement, along with CSP intramural sports.

Summer time sees little slack in the building's activity level. Volleyball and basketball camps as well as several leagues keep arena manager, assistant athletic director Tom Mauer busy.

FLOOR HISTORY
In the summer of 2012, the Gangelhoff Center floor received a new, fresh look with the two-stained look, a CU logo at center court and navy blue sidelines. It was the floor's first new look since the summer of 2004, when the Golden Bear logo was featured at center court with gold baselines and navy sidelines. Prior to the 2004 look, the institutional shield logo was featured at center court, while inside the three-point arcs were painted dark blue and an orange basketball was painted inside the top of the key in the free throw circle.
